South Park Season 27 Set to Stream on Paramount+ After $1.5 Billion Deal

The creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, have inked a massive five-year, $1.5 billion streaming deal with Paramount+, marking a major shift for the long-running animated series. Under the new agreement, South Park Season 27 and future episodes will air on Comedy Central first before becoming available for streaming exclusively on Paramount+.

This strategic deal brings all 26 previous seasons along with 50 brand-new episodes, beginning with South Park Season 27, directly to Paramount’s platform. After a fierce bidding war between top streaming giants, Paramount finally secured the rights, reinforcing its commitment to becoming a major player in the streaming space.

Although South Park Season 27 was originally scheduled to begin on 9 July, it faced delays due to extended contract negotiations. With those hurdles now cleared, fans can expect the season to kick off this week on Comedy Central and stream shortly after on Paramount+. This move also ends the show’s previous streaming arrangement with HBO Max, as all content shifts to Paramount+.

Known for its edgy, uncensored satire, South Park has built a massive global following since its debut in 1997. Over the decades, Parker and Stone have used the series to tackle politics, culture, and current events, making it a cultural staple despite (or because of) its frequent controversies. Now, with South Park Season 27 in motion, fans can once again expect the kind of sharp, no-holds-barred humor that made the show a phenomenon.

The timing of the deal is also notable, as Paramount and its CBS division are facing backlash over their decision to cancel The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, citing financial concerns. This $1.5 billion investment into South Park Season 27 and future content shows the network’s long-term commitment to original programming.

Whether you’re a longtime fan or a new viewer, South Park Season 27 promises a wild ride — starting on Comedy Central and continuing on Paramount+.
